Artist's Comments

Chris Ecklund [link] was kind enough to commission a 2nd picture of his Soviet Superwoman character. I'm even more grateful to Chris on this count because he was good enough to let me try a different approach on this one and I'm really stoked with how it came out.

A little bit inspired by a Ryan Ottley comic con sketch of Bizarro on my part, Chris asked for a picture of his OC looking plenty pissed off after being zapped by a giant ray gun or missile. Hopefully I did it justice. :fingerscrossed:

Happy with this one as it's all magic/copic markers, fine-liner pen and white pen. The only bit of photoshopping was to clean up the background.

Thanks again Chris. Please check out his page at the link above to see other artists takes on his character, some by famous comic artists commissioned at cons!

Dang you and your mad skills. I'll have to spy at you work some time

I assume that wall symbolised the narrow space of capitalism. Have you heard of SS's friend, Marxist Molly? She's a sex bomb, but she mostly hangs out in coffee shops and only works in an intellectual capacity.

Great pic, before I forget to say that.

I does make me wonder why the Soviets didn't come up this idea during the cold war. I know there is a "Superman: Red Sun" but that was made way after by DC comix.

Well, Marxist ideology didn't lend itself well to superheroes. A singular, exceptional individual runs contrary to the idea that everything great is done by the mass efforts of collective toil by the proletariat worker class.

Sure, in a world where the West had actual superheroes, the soviets would have had their own superhuman assets, both as for propaganda and arms race purposes.

In a world where superheroes are fiction, the imagery doesn't go well with the political goals of the old USSR.

Rob, thanks again for a wonderful piece of art. I really enjoy the way she looks in this very much. Boy, if she wasn't pissed before at whatever blasted her, I feel sorry for them now!

Great work!

If you want something different, do something different. Only a crazy person keeps repeating the same thing and expects different results!

I wish that I drinked. I know it won't solve my problems, but at least I'll have something to blame my problems on.
