This was the drawing from hell.
Not that it was a bad request - it was a very good request! 2 of my favourite female comic book characters. I just couldn't draw it. Whether it was creative block, external influences or perhaps just in my own head - I really struggled to draw this picture. I think I was trying to be too clever. I wanted something dynamic, ie. some kind of different perspective or some extreme foreshortening whilst still trying to keep true to the original brief. However, in the end sometimes, you just can't beat a couple of good 'front on' poses. I actually started this commission 2 or 3 times over. I'll probably scan and post the ones I rejected (if I haven't burnt them through shame already!) just to demonstrate how much of a perfectionist I am.
was very patient with me and in the end I managed to do this piece which I'm very happy with. I was reading Jim Lee's Icon book at the time so I might've inked it more than I usually would but hey, it came out ok. I'm much happier with this version of Powergirl than my very first attempt a few years ago.
The picture is done on Super A3 350gsm xerox card using pencils and pitt pens. No wite-out on this one.
Much thanks to Hasturmind for the commission, much appreciated dude.
